Volunteer Position Descriptions

Dog Walker

Our canine companions need walking every day in every type of weather. They can be lively and energetic. Our dog walkers provide much needed exercise and are taught how to instill basic obedience skills to increase the dog’s chances of adoption. You are required to clean up after the dog both inside and outside. At times, you will interact with the public to help our dogs find their new family.

Animal Care Attendant (cleaning)

The rescue houses many dogs, some under medical observation, some that are new arrivals to our facility and others that are awaiting their forever homes. This opportunity is for those who want to learn proper cleaning procedures to ensure our facility stays a healthy environment and who understand the importance of this critical task to prevent diseases and germs from spreading.

Special Event Support

Our special events occur mostly on the weekends and can be a major fundraising event, or a few hours at a local pet store with some canine companions searching for their new families. Your time will be used to help set-up, clean-up and schedule events out in the community. This rewarding experience provides the opportunity to meet many people and help our rescue meet its goals and mission.

Meet & Greet

Our weekends can get pretty crazy around here! You will be responsible for staffing the reception area, greeting the public, accepting donations and answering questions. This position requires considerable knowledge about the rescue as well as patience, diplomacy and good communication skills.

Facility Assistant

Put your handyman/woman skills to work! If you like fixing things, painting, decorating, gardening….then this is the position for you. Our facility needs constant maintenance and improvements and with your help, we can provide a better environment for the dogs, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

Fundraising

As our rescue grows, so do our expenses. Do you have experience in raising money? Gathering in-kind donations? Grant writing? Do you possess the skills to create a newsletter or brochure? If so, we need your help!

We are dedicated to finding loving permanent homes for unwanted, neglected, abused, stray or homeless beagles and hounds.
